Hello, my name is Kim Bridges. I was born and raised in Loudon County. My parents are Patsy Willis and the late Glen Willis. I have one brother, Ray Willis. My husband, Rick and I have been married for twenty three years. My children are Brock and Bailey. Brock graduated in 2012 from Loudon High School. Bailey will graduate from Loudon High School in 2019.
My husband and I have a small farm. We have Angus cattle that occupy some of our time. I grew up on Dr. Sam Harrison's farm, so farming has a special place in my heart. As a child, I always enjoyed working with my dad on the farm. All of my cows have names based on their own personalities or markings. Prince Cobalt is my bull and loves to be petted. Big Mama is my son's show cow and currently has a calf by her side that we named Houdini. Pretty Girl is friendly and petite while Spunky is exactly the opposite! She is a bit moody at times and doesn't want you touching her. She is Miss Independent to say the least. Elsa and Anna are two heifers that were born during the frigid temperatures of winter. Working with our small herd reminds me of the joys I shared with my dad as a child. His passing in April has left a void that my small herd of cattle help to fill. As I view them in the pasture and work with them I'm reminded to cherish the times we spent together on the farm.
I attended Philadelphia Elementary School and Loudon High School. My college career began at Roane State Community College. I received an Associate of Science Degree and transferred to Tennessee Wesleyan (College) University. While at Tennessee Wesleyan (College) University I received the Presidential Scholarship and graduated with honors with a Bachelors Degree in Human Learning. I went on to pursue my Masters and Educational Specialist Degrees in Educational Administration and Supervision. I continued my education at Trevecca Nazarene University and received my Library Science endorsement. I have always valued education and firmly believe you can achieve anything you set your mind to.
I have a professional license in the State of Tennessee and am endorsed by the State of Tennessee to teach PK through Third Grade, Kindergarten through Eighth Grade, Librarian PreK-12th Grade, Physical Education K-12th Grade and Administration PreK-12th Grade.
Being a teacher gives me a different perspective on issues and policies. I work with students, teachers, support staff, administrators, and parents everyday. I can provide insight that other board members cannot, simply because I do the job daily and have more than twenty years in educational experiences. I understand the challenges schools face today. My goal as a school board member is to be an advocate for students, parents, teachers, and support staff. I encourage and welcome visitors to attend school board meetings. Your presence helps symbolize your desire to be an active participant in Loudon County Schools. I want you to know if you have an issue within the system I will help you bring closure to your situation. I know I don't have all the answers to your questions and concerns, but I promise I will diligently seek the person who does and help you connect with him or her. I am dedicated to seeing students succeed and become productive citizens within our community.
